Introducing Self-Portrait in Green!

Self-Portrait in Green was born of an act of creative rebellion against doing what I thought I *should* do, rather than what I truly wanted.

As I worked on prototypes for what I thought would be a first anniversary collection, I was trying to create a Remix Collection with fan favorite polishes transformed into new undertones or finishes. The harder I tried to force the concept, the more I found myself making the kind of shades that *I* wanted “just for fun” to break up the boredom of doing what I thought I *should* do.

The end result was a *very* ‘me’ color story: greens, teals, aquas, and reflective glitter galore.

Ordinarily, I construct a color story as a companion visual narrative to a poem. For Self-Portrait in Green, the colors came first, and the poem came afterwards. As I stared at the colors, the words poured out of me. I knew exactly the story they were trying to tell.

The shade names are adapted from my poem, Self-Portrait in Green

Self-Portrait In Green

by Karen Cralli

My lover dreams of the sea
But I dream in green

Of fronds and vines and leaves and sedge
The fields and forests of my youth

Prairie-hearted; I have become
Verdant longings and chartreuse memories
